Concise Kilgore

I'm not really into rap music. I'm not that into hip hop either, but you could definitely say that rap and Parker don't really exist well together. That being said, it's understandable why when Shane over at SIEGE was like, "Hey, now we're going to head over and shoot with Concise Kilgore," I was thinking to myself, "Concise Whodilly?" Apparently, he's kind of a big deal in the local underground hip hop scene, and he's definitely one of the most legit, and nice kids I've hung out with in a long time. We headed over to FICE SLC and shot in the store, as well as in the alley behind the shop on 2nd and 2nd in downtown. Some pretty rad graffiti art back there, if you've never checked it out. Definitely worth a detour. Kristopher and I both came away with some pretty compelling images, and Concise got rockstar treatment posing in front of the lenses. Peep the images.

Jeff Larson | The Hot Noise

One of the first shoots I did with SIEGE Audio was working with a long-time friend Hot Noise, one of the card carrying OG electro DJ's from SLC. Jeff and I went to high school together, and our parents actually live just a couple blocks away from each other down in Orem. It's been pretty awesome to see the transformation to next-level DJ status that he's made, because I remember back in the day when we used to throw electro dance parties in Provo, and when they started there were seriously like ten people that would show up, and the kids that were there were raging for five hours straight without a water break.

Times definitely change. From empty dance floors to waiting lists and standing room only, Hot Noise has become one of the quintessential acts of the Salt Lake City club scene, and his devotion to the genre, along with the support of a lot of other super rad kids in the downtown district has boosted electro dance parties to the forefront of the SLC night life. Electro has stirred the scene in a big way, and thanks to Hot Noise, it's not leaving anytime soon. Here's some photos from a basement mix-tape session, enjoy.

SIEGE Audio

It's been a long time coming, but SIEGE Audio has finally released their new website, and it features quite a few of my photos. It's been pretty rad working with these guys, and I've been stoked to be able to shoot industry legends like Jeremy Jones, Seth Huot, Jon Kooley, and Blake Nyman, not to mention all the parties and adventures we've been having. Following these words are some examples from the site of my images. Later today I'll have a feature on each shoot, because the dudes over at Siege asked me to keep some of the shoots kind of close to my chest until the site went live. And now, without further adieu, the long anticipated images from working with SIEGE Audio athletes and opinion leaders.

Pirates Invade Park City

Pirates Invade Park City | Pirate Movie Productions from Parker Alec Cross on Vimeo.

The Pirates set sail for Park City following the Jolly Roger premiers in Orem and SLC, Utah. Three lucky winners were able to score raffle tickets that included a day pass to Park City Mountain Resort, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and an opportunity to shred with professional snowboarders Tyler Chorlton, Marco Feichtner, and Blair Habenicht. Despite the gruesome snow conditions, and the fact that the resort only has two runs open, Park City has managed to put together an epic early season terrain park. This is some footage of the antics of the day.

Park City "Ride With the Pros"

Three lucky winners were able to get day tickets to PCMR and come shred with professional snowboarders Tyler Chorlton, Marco Feichtner, and Blair Habenicht. Those dudes were laying down hammers despite the extremely limited terrain and they all told me that they were super pumped to come and hang out with the kids and stoke them out on the production.

Pirate Movie Productions is beginning a U.S. marketing campaign to raise awareness and hype in the states, and I've been incredibly stoked to be a part of it so far. My buddy Devereux of the Q-Network was organizing the whole event, and introduced me to Travis Limoge, a rad kid out of Portland/Denver who's handling a lot of the stateside marketing for the Pirates, and I've been pretty pumped to be a part of it. It was definitely an honor to meet Blair, Marco, and Tyler and spend a day shredding with those incredibly talented athletes. Also, it was rad to hang out with Drew Fuller, whom I've met several times, although scheduling conflicts kept him from being able to attend the Saturday shred session.

Check the photos and the Pirates websites, and special thanks to PCMR, Burton, Bataleon, Ride, and Q-Network for making the magic happen. I'll have a video edit here on the blog hopefully later today, but if not then definitely by Wednesday, so check back often!

"Jolly Roger" Premier @ Brewvies SLC

Brewvies in SLC was the venue for the 3rd stop of the Pirate Movie Production "Jolly Roger" premier in the states, and a bunch of locals came out in support of Blair Habenicht, Tyler Chorlton, Marco Feichtner, and Drew Fuller. The premier had a couple minor hiccups but we got it sorted out and people were stoked to limbo for the Bataleon board. Giveaways by Burton, Ride, and Park City Mountain Resort, as well. Stoked on everyone that came, and super stoked to shred with the winners of the raffle who got to come "shred with the pros" on Saturday morning. Pics and video of that shindig coming very soon.

Progression Despite Circumstances

New features dot the barren landscape of the Utah Shred scene, and although much needed snowfall has since accumulated, Friday's session was meager at best with regard to snow conditions. The Canyons Terrain Park crew has been absolutely slaying it and keeping things fresh. With some luck this snowstorm will give us enough fresh that they can push up a jump or two to add to their arsenal of features, but one way or the other, get stoked on the crazy stuff Steve and the guys are coming up with over on the North Side of town. New features include a corrugated pipe, double dance floor to 6" round pipe, single pipe down rail, double-pipe d-f-d, and a second dancefloor flat box. Peep the pics and get stoked on the season.
